Spring Term

Easter Activity Days
The children worked in mixed groups across both classes to complete a number of creative and fun activities linked to Easter. These included Easter themed Maths, Easter cards, Easter chicks, Easter nests, Easter egg symmetry and practicing their multiplication skills on the Ipads. It was a very successful couple of days to end the term.

We have done lots of PE this term linked to co-operation. The children had to work together in teams to solve different problems and to see who worked the best as a whole team.

We have also been taking part in activities that help us to keep fit as part of our Jigsaw topic 'Healthy Me'.

The Children have really enjoyed taking part in all these activities but they found them very tiring!

We have been using computing programs to help us with our Maths skills of addition, ordering numbers, multiplication and division.

On Wednesday 20th March Year 2 went on a trip to the Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury to learn all about Victorian homes. We had an amazing day and the children represented Westover Green really well. Here are just a few photographs from the day.

We met Sam who was our Victorian teacher for the day. We toured the museum looking at different parts of Victorian life, made drop scones and did some rug-ragging.

Year 2 SASP PE Festival at Haygrove. The children all took part in a number of different activities which allowed them to develop different sporting skills.

World Book Day

March 2019

All of the children really enjoyed dressing up as their favourite character from a story book.

Here are just a few of the amazing costumes worn in our class.

Some children in Year 2 were very lucky to work with Mr Stringer who is an ICT consultant for the school. He taught the children how to use a piece of equipment called a Sphero. All the children who took part really enjoyed it and they will be able to teach other children how to use them.

As part of our Multi-Cultural Creativity week we focused on the Caribbean. We had fun making a delicious fruit salad using oranges, pineapple, mango and banana. The children enjoyed eating the salad with some of them trying new pieces of fruit for the first time.

Madame Lathem taught us the French names of different pieces of fruit. This was part of our Caribbean Creativity week.

Year 2 were very lucky to have a music teacher called Mrs Thompson work with us for 10 weeks teaching us how to sing different kinds of songs all about dinosaurs. We ended the 10 weeks with a performance for our parents and carers.

We had a visit from a nurse to talk to us about the importance of washing our hands properly. We used special cream and an ultra violet light to show us where germs were on our hands. We then washed our hands with soap and warm water. We put our hands back under the light to see if we had washed all the germs away.
